Recovery Time

Monday was a busy one. We got up first thing and took Emery to her 2 month check up(in a previous post) afterwards we went to meet with a cabinet guy I think we are finally getting things narrowed down. Then we headed home to just relax. After the crazy weekend we had Monday and Tues we spent most f the day in our pjs just taking it easy. Em did pretty well with her shots. During her naptime Monday afternoon she woke up early and wanted to be held and I was A-OK with that. She is growing so fast I can't get enough snuggles in. I took these pictures to show how she likes to sleep. She likes to be bundled and once bundled she wiggles herself down into her blanket so you can pretty much only see her eyes.

But after some good sleep she was good to go. She is such a happy and good baby. I get really excited when I can start to capture her smiles.

Gracie just couldn't hold still until I showed her that if she moves you can't see her in the pictures and then we tried some more with better results.

These girls brighten my day. They make life so fun. I love the days we just stay home in our pjs reading, watching, tv, and baking. I feel very blessed that Matt and i have been entrusted with these special girls.

Happy 4th of July in Idaho Falls

It worked out just right with the house that there was nothing that really needed to be done so we could head to Idaho for the 4th of July. We headed up Friday morning since Matt had the day off. We met the rest of the family at Rigby Lake and played in the water. There were so many people there and it was so crowded. After playing for a couple hours we headed back to Ris's house to get ready then the adults plus Emery headed to dinner. The kids stayed and played at Ris's house while we were gone. The next morning we got up early so we could get a good spot at the parade. The parade was not the greatest and it was really hot. I guess when you grow up in Tremonton other parade just aren't as good. But the kids did get a few pieces of candy and to play with their cousins so that was fun.

Em did great we bought her a fan that hooks to her car seat to help keep her cool. She slept for most of the parade.

Matt insisted we do a silly face and this is what we got
Afterwards we went to Home Depot to look at things for the house they had free hot dogs and ice cold drinks it was just what we needed.

Then we went to meet everyone else at lunch. They were eating at Arctic Circle so we stopped at Panda Express and grabbed lunch before we met up with them. This is the look Gracie gave Matt when he asked he to take a picture...silly girl

After lunch we went to Lowes to once again look for stuff for the house and to have a cool place to hang out. The we ran back to Ris's house to pack up our stuff so we could go home after the fireworks. The we met up with Krissy, Chris, Joy and Matt's grandparents to see Pitch Perfect 2. It was so good! Towards the end of the movie Emery got hungry. While I was feeding her she was having a lot of gas and I could feel her loading her diaper...little did I know just how much. When I went to burp her this is what I found. Luckily I had her blanket to wrap her in and the movie was over about 2 minutes later. The funny thing is she has only ever blown out of her clothes 1 other time and it was just a little but of coarse it would be now..right? Luckily we were prepared so it wasn't a big deal. So we headed to the car to get her cleaned up and changed before going to meet up with everyone else for the fireworks. Yet another reason I love leather seats. After about 10 wipes we got all her dirty clothes bagged and in new clothes and off we went.
As we made our way to the trailer it was apparent that this was a pretty big deal. There were people sitting and parked everywhere. Even people parked on the side of the freeway with blankets! Justin and Ris had parked their trailer just off the freeway in a dirt field area to watch the fireworks. It was dusty and filthy. Luckily they had brought come tarps to try and help keep the dirt somewhat contained. We ate dinner and visited for a bit. I was grateful they had their trailer that I could nurse Em in. It was so hot but once the sun went down it got better. By the time the fireworks started our kids were cold..lol! I had come prepared with a couple extra Emery blankets that they could wrap up in. I love the music that comes with fireworks. Lee Greenwoods God Bless the USA is my favorite. We used to play that in the boat at the lake and sing at the top of our lungs. I love what it stands for and the fireworks combined with that are always so cool. After a few minutes there was so much smoke from the fireworks that we couldn't see the new fireworks going off very well.

Once they finished we quickly packed up, said goodbye to everyone, and headed for the car. For all the traffic there was we got out of there pretty quickly. We stopped at a nearby gas station to fill up, wash the kids off, and put everyone in their pjs. We also topped Emery off for the ride home. When we left the gas station it was about 11:30pm. It had been a very long day and given no one slept well the night before it wasn't long before all the girls were out. Matt and I both stayed awake to make sure we made it home safely. The ride went relatively quick given that it was in the middle of the night. There was no traffic and it was cooler. After a while I struggled to make meaningful conversation. I told Matt that if we ever decided to go again that we should get a hotel near the temple. That way we would have our own space, air conditioning, and we wouldn't have to worry about firework traffic so we will see what next year brings. We got home just after 2am and got everyone tucked into bed. The next day we all slept to close to 11...if that isn't a sure sign that everyone was exhausted Im not sure what is.

Just Keep Swimming

Our house has been and will probably continue to be pretty much the focus of our summer until its complete. But once in a while we need a break from the house talk. We have really enjoyed having the pool just a few steps away the girls would swim multiple times a day if we would let them. The girls love when Matt can come and go with us. He is just a fun dad. He throw them in the air and plays silly with them. We sure love him and the time we get to spend with him.

We Have a Hole!!

On June 25th we received our permits and closed on our construction financing...that's what we call really good timing. And on June 29th the hole was dug. It really seems surreal but we are really excited. Its funny once things work out how you look back and it all makes sense why other things didn't work out. We looked at and offered on so many other lots that just didn't work out. Now seeing where we are building and planning our future it all makes so much sense. None of the other lots can hold a candle to the beauty and peacefulness of this place I can't wait to spend everyday here. This will be the view from our front door and deck..doesn't get much better

The main house(view from the north west corner)
A better view of the garage...they will dig it down more level when the back fill the foundations
View from the north east corner

The girls love to go to the lot. They ask everyday if we are going. They love to climb around the piles of dirt and play in the hole. Gracie looks so tiny in the hole
View of the garage from the north west corner
South west corner
Probably my favorite picture of the bunch. The view is just the cherry on top of this amazing experience
Now we are off and running. Although at this point it feels very surreal. Matt and I have planned on doing this since we got married almost 9 years ago. So many decisions to make but Im so excited to be doing this with Matt and the girls

Cousin Time in the Water

A couple weeks ago Brit and the kids came down to swim with us at our complex pool. It was nice to let them play in the water and be close enough to come home if I needed to for Em. We had a good time I think we will have to do it a lot more. Then on Tues Brit invited us to join them at Mantua Reservoir. They had borrowed some kayaks so we went to try them out. When we got there I knew immediately we didn't plan well enough. There was no shade and it was really hot. The girls had a great time playing in the water and taking turns going for rides in the kayaks. I did my best to keep Emery cool but she hated the water and there wasn't really anywhere to get her out of the sun so I resorted to holding her and using my body and a lightweight blanket to keep her as cool as I could.

Preston came over and said he was cold so I made him a spot to lay in  the sun. I really thought he would fall asleep...I would have but he didn't.

Nick came to join us and cool down after he got off work
Brit was nice enough to hold Em for a few minutes while I took the kids for a ride in the kayaks...I think they both enjoyed it
All of the kids decided to try and get into/on one of the kayaks but it wasn't long before it was sinking
And then they tipped over
After a couple hours we called it quits and headed for home. It was a fun time but next time we will go better prepared for the heat with our little one.

8 Weeks=2 months & Smiles

Today the girls and I took Em to her 2 month check up besides the shots everything was great. Dr Watts even commented on what a great and attentive mom I must be....best compliment ever! She is 22.5 in long(50%) 9lbs 10.5oz (12%) and head 15 in(48%). Now that Em has grown out of her newborn stuff I finished her shadow box for her room. I think it turned out great!
Finally capturing smiles. I love this little girl and each one of her smiles brightens my day and warms my heart, She is also holding her head up, tracking people, and turns when she hears something.

 Finding her voice
She also has amazing big sisters that are super helpful and protective

She has been sleeping awesome....6-8 hrs at night! The other day she got her arm out and I just thought she looked so cute
