Our Blustery Day and Our Soup Kitchen

This spring the weather has been a little crazy and dramatic for sure. The wind and water have been coming in large doses. While at church this morning I started to get pictures from friends in our old ward showing all the damage that had been done by the high winds. I was wracking my brain wondering what to do when I realized this was one of the many reasons I wanted a larger house and kitchen. I sent out a mass text to people in our old ward and invited them to our house for dinner that evening. With the high winds many of them had been without heat/electricity for over 24 hours so I was hoping a warm house and meal would be just the thing to do. After church I found Matt and told him we were about to have a large party at our house and we needed to figure out what we would feed all of our guests. We had 3 families come up to eat with us. I made a couple different kinds of soup, rolls, and skookies with ice cream for dessert. It was fun to catch up and let the kids play.
After we ate dinner Matt gave the kids rides in the mini ex we had been using for the back yard. They all though it was so cool and were very impatiently waiting for a turn.

Although I would never want to move back to Ogden we did make some good friends. It turned out that they were out of power for another 12 hours before the company got it back on. I felt very blessed to have the space and means to accommodate people in our home

Toothless

A couple weeks before her tooth actually came out it started to get loose. She was insistent that she wanted to lose it at school so she got a cute tooth case from her teacher. As the weeks past it got looser and looser and then the one next to it also started to wiggle. It got to the point that I thought she would end up swallowing it while eating since it was so loose. She was anxious about letting us pull it and we encouraged but didn't want to make her terrified about having it out. On Sunday afternoon she came to me and asked to have it out. It popped right out and she was thrilled and of coarse wanted a picture to document it.

Later that night she also decided she wanted the other one out. When I started to pull it she freaked out but it was hanging by a thread so Matt held her down while I twisted it one last time then it was out! She cried for a couple minutes but then realized that the tooth fairy would be coming and would bring double the loot for double the teeth.

That night the tooth fairy forgot us but luckily the next night Hallie got lots of coins for her teeth. She was thrilled and I was happy we had done family pictures just a few weeks before so now we have a couple months for her teeth to come in so she doesn't have the huge gap. She has been slightly frustrated that she has some trouble eating certain foods...mainly corn on the cob.

Family Pictures Spring 2016

One of Matt and I's friends from high school took our family pictures. I was really excited. For a couple years now I have been wanting to take pictures in an orchard while the blossoms are out and it worked just perfect to do both family pictures and Em's 1st birthday pictures. I was really nervous since the wind had been blowing like crazy throughout the day. I think they turned out so great.
