I ran to meet Matt at Hallie dance class to finish the parent meeting so he could head to teach class. It was a little crazy but we make it work. That night after dinner the girls and I walked over to a lady in the wards house to attend a jewelry party. The kids had a great time playing in the backyard with all the other kids and I got some cute new pieces of jewelry. Thursday we went to the zoo(see next post). Friday I felt like I had been ran over by a truck and we spent most of our day watching movies. I did manage to sit on the couch and go through the girls summer clothes so we could switch them out.(see date night post). That is pretty much what our week has looked like. Next week we have more dr appt and I hope they can give me a better idea what to do to take care of myself. Hoping something will help but until then we will just try to keep on living and being grateful for what we have.

What our week is like...sometimes
Monday I had another Dr. appt and the girls both had dentist appointments.Gracie has become pretty protective of me and wasn't very happy when the dr had to look me over. Hallie did great but Gracie still is a little unsure about the dentist and having her teeth cleaned. Tuesday I didn't feel great so we spent most of our day in our pjs watching movies but we did take the suburban to get a new dvd player put in anticipation for our trip to San Diego. When we went to pick it up Hallie and Gracie we so excited Hallie kept saying, "I can't believe it I just can't believe it thank you thank you" and Gracie just jumped up and down with a surprised look on her face. It was pretty entertaining and of coarse made it all worth it. I told Matt maybe we don't even have to take them to Cali just put a movie on in the car while its parked in the garage. Wed I had a really rough morning I felt horrible and was so frustrated that I didn't know what to do about my body. One of my great friends came over to talk and to listen to me bawl and then another great friend offered to keep my kids so I could grocery shop(which I needed to do badly). I felt really guilty feeling like I could have just taken them like I normally do but once I got out and going I was glad I had left them home since me feeling good doesn't usually last super long when Im running around. I picked them up in time to go down for naps for all of us. Matt woke me up when he came home so I could go to my staff mtg. He is so perfect he drove Hallie to dance, went to parent meeting, and stopped to fix my windshield wipers.{Side story: Moday on our way home from the dentist I saw a car wash that was having half price on their automatic washes so I decided to run the car through but when I got to the end the car wash had ripped my windshield wipers off!!!! The attendant could only find one wiper which was bent...so pretty useless. So I was in need of new wipers. And in the midst of grocery shopping not feeling 100% I forgot the wipers so while I was at staff mtg and after he dropped Hallie off at dance he ran to Walmart, bought new wipers, came to my work, and put them on my car.....isn't he the best???? Like seriously so wonderful. I came out and found this note on my window}
Conference Weekend...Joy's Last Conference
And just like that conference weekend has come and gone once again. I felt a little cheated having had to work on Saturday so I missed 2 of the sessions(thank heavens for DVR). Matt and the girls kept busy on Saturday with soccer and yard work. I got home just in time for Matt to change and head to the priesthood session while the girls and I stayed home and had a very low key evening watching movies. Sunday we had a nice quiet day at home. We all stayed in our pjs and no one got their hair done. We decided to have cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We usually have conference cakes but the only part everyone really likes is the belly button thats full of brown sugar so we decided to do cinnamon rolls that we stuffed with eveyones favorite. Im not sure that will be a new tradition either but we will keep trying until we find one we really like. But no one complains with warm cinnamon rolls with frosting and hot chocolate.
The girls were great(as usual) to just sit and color or play with their toys quietly. The girls both worked on pictures for Aunt Maddie to send her in the mail for her birthday. Hallie even asked a couple questions about the talks I was impressed that she was listening.

Gracie is getting such an imagination and now is able to vocalize it. It has been so fun to just sit and watch her play lately. I was lucky to capture a little of it before she noticed me.
There was one thing that was a little different about his conference. It is Joy's last conference before she retires for the choir after almost 21 years. Matt was about 8yrs old when she started singing with them...that is so crazy to me. We will miss watching for her on the tv but hope it means we will see her more in person.
Sunday after conference we tidied up and decided to get dinner going. Once we got it started we got a call from Matt's mom and dad. They asked if they could stop by to visit and we excitedly said yes. We invited them to have dinner with us so we could keep them longer. The girls ate their dinner, asked to be excused, and played in the front room while the adults talked. It was such a fun evening with great conversation and a great end to our busy conference weekend.
Yard Work
Along with spring comes the yard work. A couple weeks previous we cut down and took out our other trees(see previous posts). On the 2nd we were able to go to the city free tree day and get 4 new trees to put in our yard. Saturday, while I was at work, Matt measure and dug new holes for 3 of the new trees down our mow strip. I think they will look beautiful. I'm excited to start over and watch the trees grow.
Hallie's 1st Soccer Game
Hallie has been so excited about starting soccer and last Saturday opening day finally came. I was so disappointed when I found out they had scheduled me to work that day but kept my fingers crossed they would call me off but no such luck so Matt was on his own to handle everything from getting the girls ready to coaching. Matt has always really tried to do the girls hair when I am at work and he has become pretty good at it. This day was no exception he even did cute pigtails. He is definitely cut out to be a girl daddy. Here are their hairdo pics
Then it was off to the game where Matt would be coaching our team which consists of 4 little girls. They no longer have kids play co-ed so they have smaller teams and different brackets for boys and girls. The previous week before the game I had taken Hallie to pick out shin guards and she was so excited to wear them. Matt even managed to take a few pictures. The weather wasn't the greatest and started out cold and overcast. The girls play four 5 minute quarters to make up their game. They rotate having a break. During the 2nd quarter it started to rain. Gracie cried and wanted to be held the entire time so Matt held her and tried to run up and down the field and coach the kids. He said a couple of the girls on the team were fine with the rain but Hallie cried that she was wet and cold. It was a less than memorable 1st game except for the fact that Hallie also scored her 1st goal!!!! Way to go Hallie!!!
Next week we should have our uniforms. We were told the girls uniforms were white so the girls decided to be called the white ghosts. So there you have it our little girls 1st soccer game. Hopefully the beginning of her finding what she really loves to do and is good at.
Captain America Date Night
A couple weeks ago Wadman announced that they would be sponsoring a family movie night at the Megaplex in downtown Ogden. Matt requested 4 tickets for our little family and we started getting excited. A couple days before the movie night we found out the movie was the 2nd Captain America movie(not very kid friendly) I was somewhat disappointed but we decided to make the best of it and just take friends instead of the kids. Then the day before Wadman let everyone know they had extra tickets so we got 4 more and invited 2 more couples to join the fun. We went with the Johnsons, Parrishs, and the Woods. Chris and Katie ended up bailing at the last minute since one of their kids were really sick it was a bummer but we totally understood. We had a great dinner at Chilis and then hurried to the movie when we realized we had visited to long and were going to have to hurry to make it to the movie on time. When we got there they had complementary popcorn and drinks and hurried to take our seats. The movie was a lot of fun as were the friends we went with. But the best part to me was just spending time with Matt and being together. I was really impressed that Wadman sponsored the night and hope it means they will be doing more family events that hopefully will be more kid friendly in the future.
Spring is Here
At least for this past week spring has been here. Each day has been warmer and nicer than the day before. We have really been trying to get out and enjoy it. I haven't been feeling very well(my U.C. is flaring) so that has been kinda hard to go to far from home some days but luckily we have an awesome backyard to enjoy and play in. Both girls love to be outside and running around. I'm so grateful we have a fully fenced backyard so I can let them play in the backyard without to many worries. Gracie loves each part of the backyard and is so much more interested this year in being outside and trying new things. She loves to swing and is working on swinging herself since she likes to be independent more and more all the time.
Hallie is becoming more daring all the time. She has started climbing trees and doing stuff like this below. I remember how fun "tricks" like this were when I was younger....silly sweet girl.
The girls love to let the puppies out and run for the tramp then lay on it and watch the puppies run around below the trampoline. I think it will be fun to have a sprinkler below the tramp once the weather warms up.
This is our "serving" area off of the sandbox. This is where some of the most amazing sand cakes and mud pies come from as well as a variety of cooked foods.
I feel very blessed that we have such amazing kids. They are pretty laid back and understanding when I spend most of my day laying on the couch or just sitting and playing with them in the backyard. Im excited for this summer and all of the memories we will be making.
