Messy Messy Em

Em is very into feeding herself. One of the unavoidable side effects is messiness. Her cute little face covered in food is another beautiful site that I never want to forget. After dinner we had chocolate silk pie and Em was definitely a fan. She was a mess and loved every minute. She got a bath and some clean pjs after dinner

She really like spaghettios too and being messy doesn't seem to bother her either

Spring Break Day 1

Although it was a little cool it was fun to put our toes in the warm sand and sit in the warm sun. The girls loved splashing in the water and chasing the seagulls. What was even cooler was that we were only 8 minutes from home and if you look to the right in the picture you can see our house in the distance. We are really loving living up here

First time to play in the sand she seemed to really like it.

Cuddle Time

We spend a lot of time cuddling at our house...its just something we like to do. It started with Matt and I and the girls have quickly picked up on liking it as well. It warms my heart to see the girls cuddling and loving each other. These are favorite places to watch a show together while I get breakfast

Matt's feet are really ticklish and the girls think its really funny to try and tickle him...although he doesn't seem to mind much

Conference Cakes

Yesterday I made conference cakes. usually we do it on Sunday but since I knew I was on call and would likely get called in we did it on Saturday instead. While Matt grouted the basement bath the girls and I worked on this. Em slept most of the morning since she threw up a couple times in the night although she acted completely fine all day for the most part. The girls were excited to help with most of the parts but I think aside from eating them putting on the sugar was their favorite.
These were probably the fluffiest conference cakes I have every had. Matt and the girls said they were amazing. It makes me feel good that even though I eat gluten free that I can still make super yummy gluten food..lol. We also decided to put sugar all over because honestly that's the best part.
Hallie decided she doesn't like them with whipped cream
but Gracie was happy to eat both of their whipped cream for her

I love traditions...even if they are ones I married into. I love the opportunity it brings to share stories with the kids of the past and what memories I have from them. I also love this amazing new house and kitchen that I get to make these memories with our family in. This was the first time I have made conference cakes in this house and I was very pleased at how well they turned out. I love the opportunity that conference gives us to slow down and listen to the words of the prophets that the lord wants us to hear,

A Project?

I don't know now why Matt and I thought we wanted to leave this bathroom as a project for the future and I think in the future if we build again we wont do that again. A couple weeks ago I got the bright idea that we should finish this bathroom so the whole house would be done. So we started the process of picking a tile and getting it all ordered.

We prepped everything by water proofing and adding a membrane to the bathroom floor so if the concrete cracks it wont pop the tile in the future. The girls thought this was very cool because when you paint it on its pink and dries red so you know its ready. I painted the shower while Matt did the floor.

The we(mostly Matt) put all the tile in. I was concerned about half way thru that the wall tile might be to dark but I think it turned out great in the end. I should know by now to trust Matt he really does have great taste. Then yesterday Matt grouted everything.

Im excited to decorate another bathroom and make it ours. We will now slowly have everyone come in and do their part...cabinets, plumbing, and counter tops. It seems silly to really rush since we don't need the bathroom right now but our part is now done.

Growing Girls

Gracie is at an age that she loves to help with whatever Im doing. She has become a pro at emptying the dishwasher and folding towels. She is a master assistant when it comes to baking and also loved this past week learning how to vacuum. She is getting better at making her bed herself and has a real interest  in doing her own hair. I don't know who told her she could grow up but she is doing it anyways.

We have been doing a few exercises with Em to try to help her have the desire to crawl. One of them is to help build her core strength. This little chair the girls got for Christmas is perfect for that. She thinks she is so big sitting in it and only occasionally, usually when she wants out, decides to get out herself. Im also grateful that we put in awesome carpet so she doesn't hurt when she does that. She is such a sweet little joy to have in our house. She loves to roll everywhere and at times tries to crawl on her back. And for now we are enjoying that she isn't to mobile.

Oh How We Missed Our Cousins

Nic has been in Vegas for the last couple of weeks visiting my mom. Now that she was back we were anxious to get together so Wed when they didn't need me to work extra she came up. The kids were so excited to see each other and played so great. It was nice since Hallie only had half day that she got to come home and play as well. I love my sisters I don't think I realized growing up how much they meant to me. I love feeling like I have best friends that the lord also made part of my family. Im looking forward to next week with spring break getting to do more fun stuff with Nic. Im so grateful that she is willing to take time out of her schedule to come and visit us.
