Concrete Day

With the weather getting better it was giving us the opportunity to really get some of our yard stuff done. Matt was able to get all the concrete spaces prepared for concrete then Saturday was the day.

We decided to put the girls hand prints in our mailbox concrete and it turned out so cute

They also came to finish the exterior painting...it was a very productive day

Our New Kitties

So we caved and got 2 kitties. With all of the mice that are up here we decided we probably needed a least a couple. Luckily quite a few people up here have cats and give the kitties away. we got these 2 from Ashlee's grandma. The girls decided to name them Doughnut-Gracie and Sparkle-Hallie. They are loving them. They have already started killing mice...which I love. Em seems to really like them but mostly if they is some sort of divider between them. If they climb on her she freaks out a little. As much as I hate to admit it they are pretty cute and I don't really mind having them. The girls have been given the responsibility of taking care of them. They often have to be reminded but they are getting better.

Painting the House

The weather finally cooperated to get the house painted. It was a little strange to see it a different color I think just because it has been the primer color for so long. But I really like it.

Our Mother's Day and A Good Reminder

On Sunday we had made plans for Matt's family to come for Mother's Day dinner. Once we had sanitized the house and no one in our family had symptoms we decided to continued as per plan. I had called Joy ahead of time and asked what she wanted. It was fun to make something that she wanted and made it easier for me so I didn't have to decide what to make. We did the rest of Em's birthday celebrating that day as well. It was another fun day being together with our families. Im so grateful to have a place to host and family that want to spend time with us.

Em's Birthday Party & The Uninvited Guest

Early Saturday morning I heard my mom up in the bathroom for quite awhile but didn't fully understand until everyone was up and going for the day. She said she felt like she had the flu and was not feeling good. We made her a bed on the bathroom floor(another reason I love this house...I have 5 bathrooms) and she spent the rest of the day there. I was not sure what to do about Em's party but I made her cupcakes and left them out to cool not to concerned with frosting them since we weren't sure what the plan was. Everyone else was feeling fine and playing having a great time. When mom didn't feel better by noon we decided to "cancel" the party so we called the rest of the family and let them know the situation. Nic and Ky decided to come anyways since they had been exposed to us the previous couple days, grandma wanted to stop by and see mom but said they wouldn't stay long, and everyone else decided to stay home to avoid getting sick. Knowing that we decided to just be lazy for the day. About 4 Kim, Matt, and I were visiting in the family room still in our pjs when grandma shows up with Aunt Jeanette's family. I got up to get the door and everyone came in with stuff in hand to come to the party. We were caught off guard but were happy to have everyone as long as they were ok with braving the germs. We quickly threw the party together. Frosted cupcakes, got the grill going, paper products out, and ready for the day. It was completely crazy but it ended up all working out. The theme we did was...You are One in a Melon(watermelon themed)

After some good food everyone was sitting around visiting when I hear Kimber calling for me from the basement. With further investigation I found out that Luke had started barfing and Kim needed some stuff to clean up the bathroom. He luckily made it to the bathroom but hadn't quite made it to the potty. We quickly wrapped up the party letting Em open her gifts and eating cake before everyone left so they wouldn't be exposed any more.

We spent the rest of our evening cleaning up and trying to figure out what weird bug was randomly hitting the family. On Sunday morning with my mom feeling a little better and Luke not throwing up since the night before Kimber decided they better make a run for home. Fortunately they made it home without any problems.

Bye Bye Dirt Pile

I was thrilled when the day finally came for the giant dirt pile in the back to go away. One of the builders down the street need back fill for their house and we were happy to let them have it. They ended up taking over 120 truckloads away! There was a lot of dirt back there.

Em's Birthday Week & Fun Visitors

A couple weeks before Em's birthday I saw a post about taking a picture the night before your babies first birthday. I thought it was such a cute idea and luckily remembered to do it. Why oh why do they have to grow so fast?
That night we were also super excited to have Kimber and mom come to visit and stay with us for the weekend. Hallie thought it was pretty cool that her and grandma were matching
We decided to give Em the full princess treatment and shouldn't every princess have a cupcake for breakfast? She wasn't so sure either. We sang and then let her dig in

She seemed to like it though....at least the frosting
Once we got everyone up and ready for the day we set out for a fun day exploring Huntsville with the family. We started at one of my friends Hilary's house. She and her family have a hobby farm that includes chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs, sheep, and yaks.
The kids also loved picking all of their dandelions on their large property

They had some cute baby lambs that the kids really liked feeding their weeds to. They were down on another property eating all of their grass so we took a walk down to visit them.

On the way home we walked past this cool fence made of skis....and of coarse we needed a picture
We also stopped to see the yaks. They were huge and kinda scary looking but it was cool to learn a little about them.
By the time we were done with everything everyone was hot, tired, and hungry. We headed back to the house for some lunch. While the moms were making lunch the kids watched as our excavator fixed one of our window wells that had pulled away from the house due to settling.

After lunch and naps for some of the kids we headed to the lake to play...mostly in the sand and sun. Nic is so great with my girls she always makes sure she takes time to connect with each of them. It helps me out a ton
Gracie loves Lydi and babies in general she was very attentive and helpful with her while Kimber and the kids were here.
Em decided sitting on the blanket wasn't close enough to the water and took matters into her own hands...she was a mess

The kids played in the water a little bit but it was still pretty cool. They spent their time running up and down the beach and splashing

We love this little group. They are all at an age that they do really well together and it makes it so much fun for everyone
Our selfie....and everyone was looking

The rest of Em's birthday was just fun to be together and celebrate this special little girl
Friday was low key. Mom and Kimber went to Salt Lake to get her kids pictures done. We used the day to get ready for the party and let everyone nap. The rest of this story continue
