Drive Inn and the Poppys Fields

When we went to redo our landscape plan it seemed like the perfect opportunity to take the kids to see the poppies and go to maddox for lunch. They thought the drive inn was so cool and loved their lunch.

Once we got our food we headed up the canyon to see the beautiful poppies. They only bloom once a year for a couple weeks and its usually really busy. Luckily since we went in the middle of the day during the week it was pretty quiet.

They were beautiful! And it was just the right amount of time so on the way home Em fell asleep and we had a quiet ride home. I love when I get to see the girls excited about something new and beautiful it's like seeing the world thru a new pair of eyes.

Rigs Turns 5!!

Tonight we got to go to Rig's 5th birthday party! I really can't believe he is 5 it seems not to long ago we were waiting patiently to hear whether or not he had arrived. What a sweet and crazy little guy he has become. The theme he wanted for his party was a nerf gun party and we each had to bring a gun as a ticket to get in so we could all have a nerf war. After we took turns shooting all the guns and having dinner it was time for presents and cake and ice cream. He got some fun stuff including a new nerf gun

Em enjoyed crawling around and testing out all the toys after the other kids had moved on to the next one

And then she had a ball playing with the paper once the kids threw it all to the side out of the way
 Here is his target cake
It was a fun night and pretty entertaining with all these silly kids. Happy birthday Rigs! We look forward to watching you grow up for many years to come

1 Week to Sod

We made some great progress this week with the yard and now only have a week until the sod will be here. Although it seems like it has taken a long time in reality it has come together pretty quickly. I think the unspoken goal has become to have the yard all in by the time we hit the year mark from the time we started the house. I think we might make it. Last night as Matt and I were finishing leveling the back yard Matt said its starting to look like a yard isn't it.....yes indeed it is and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Ready for Sod and the Landscape PLan Debockle

Slowly but surely we are getting ready for sod and the rest of the landscaping...Ill be so relieved when its done. As we have been getting ready for plants I have been working on getting bids for the best price. As I was doing so I came across Glen who works for Alpine Nursery in Perry. He was nice enough to let me know that the design we had was not that great and that we would have color about 2 weeks of the year and everything else would be 7 shades of green. I was really disappointed and frustrated that we paid 500 bucks for that among other problems with the plan he pointed out. He was nice enough he said he would help us redesign the plan for free as long as we went with him to buy all of our plants. I gave him our budget and he said that would be plenty to get what we wanted. So we have now redesigned the plan and I think we will be so much happier with it. Now to finish the prep

1st Time on the Lake This Year

We have been looking forward to this day for months. It is one downfall of living where you see the lake at multiple times in a day and not be in the boat on the lake. Friday Nic and Ky came up with his sister and invited us to tag along we were happy to say yes.
We mostly did some swimming with all the kids. Em even like to swim...as long as she was with me anyways

Everyone got some good water time in and after a couple hours we were ready to call it a day with the wind picking up and the storm coming in. Everyone was tired and ready to head home. It was a good first trip out for us and just what we needed to have the umph to finish the top soil in the yard.

Swimming at Nikki's

We got a little stir crazy and decided to take a trip to visit Nic and play in the water. It worked out perfect Nic had a little pool just for Em that we put under the umbrella to keep her in the shade. She liked it for a little bit but then was more happy playing on the grass and eating snacks while watching the older kids run around.
These older kids are so silly! Chasing and spraying each other laughing and giggling

Watch out Rig's they will get you
I love Nic and the relationship that we have as well as the relationship she has with my kids. I know she truly loves them as close to a mom could. Im so grateful for that
