6462 Summit Cove-Roofing Complete

There was one small part of the roof that still needed shingles and the metal roofs also needed to be installed. And today was the day so now all the roofing should be complete. Just one more thing to check off the list.

Dada

Most night Matt comes home from work, eats dinner, changes his clothes, and heads up to work on the house. I feel bad that it makes his time with the kids limited. The kids and I spend as much time as we can at the house helping but we still have bedtime, naps, and activities to get the kids to. It makes me especially grateful for the nights we can just have at home as a family. I will be so ready for this house to be dome so we can just enjoy finding a new normal which hopefully will include way more family time.

6462 E Summit Cove-Siding Done, Tile Delivered, Drywall Complete, and Exterior Paint Color

Lots of big and exciting things happening here lately. We are completely dried in and with some paint and the rock the exterior of the house will be ready to go.

We also received our tile order and lucky for us it all came and we only had a few broken pieces. I can't say that it was easy for us to unload the trailer...it was so heavy!
All of the drywall is up and most of the mud and tape is in place. It feels like it has taken a long time to get to this point but our drywallers are rockstars and have gotten it done supper quick considering how big this house is.

It is finally time to put some stairs in the garage! Matt never ceases to amaze me with his skills. Can't wait to have stairs that don't move when you step on them.
This right here is most of our finish work lumber! Matt and I were both surprised by how much there was. As with the theme of this house it's going to be more work than we expected. But yay for being to the point of finish work.
And the decisions continue. We never know how something is going to look on a bigger scale. It's hard to make a decision based on a small sample size but we will cross our fingers and hope we chose well. A few things we did different this time than last. We chose to go with natural stone. Matt really likes the look of natural stone and as long as the price is comparable I don't really care.
We ended up choosing mindful gray. Our last house when the sun would hit in in certain light looked purple so we were hoping to stay away from that this time and I think it will be great.

Enjoying the Leaves and Learning To Take His Clothes Off

Last fall Liam was to little to really enjoy the leaves but this year he is just the right age. At soccer games some of the older girls would build leaf piles for the younger kids and just let them jump and play in them. I find that I'm grateful for more of the simple things in life and watching the kids grow and play is always a blessing.

One morning I went in to get Liam from his crib and found him with no clothing on and just a diaper. I guess we have now entered the stage where he learns to take his clothes off. He thought he was pretty funny. I'm grateful he is learning and growing.

Half Beef

In the spring even before covid made everything crazy I had reached out to see if the person we had purchased the beef from before was going to have any coming up. She said that it wouldn't be until fall but she would put us on the list. With all the craziness happening in the world it was a good thing we got on the list. Beef prices have just continued to climb higher and higher. The only rough part is we were hoping we would be in our new house before the beef was ready but that wasn't the case. It ended up being ok because the beef was smaller than what we had anticipated. The jury is still out on whether this was worth it or not. The beef owner chose a different butcher and we didn't really like the options they gave us. They gave us no hamburger patties, we ended up with mostly ground beef and very few higher end cuts that seem to make it more cost effective. They also packaged everything in plastic which I worry wont keep the beef as fresh as if it were wrapped in paper.

6462 E Summit Cove-Gym Wall Prepped for Carpet

What we thought would take about half a day ended up taking an entire day...why do things always take longer than you think? This was something that just Matt and I and the kids worked on and it was a bigger project than either of us planned on but this space will be so fun when it's done. We had to put plywood over all the walls to give the carpet a smooth and even space to put the carpet on.
