Bear Lake With Friends

July has been full of all sorts of fun so far and this weekend was no different. We got to go camping with our Huntsville friends. Amy/Perry, Bree/Blake, and Hilary/Mark and of coarse their families. We left earlier than the rest because we wanted to check out the adventure park just as you come into Bear Lake. It didn't disappoint. We bought each of the kids a slide punch pass so we each got to go 10 times. The tubing hill was super fun and the water sprinkler was just what you needed to cool you off on the hot July day.

Then we decided to try the trampoline jumper

Emy was a little bit light but she made the most of it and they helped her by adjusting the elastic ropes.

Hallie wanted so badly to do a flip and just before her time ended she was able to do it.
Then we headed to the campground to check it. Yes you heard me right and said campground. There are very few people in this world I will camp for and these and one of the few. It was a pretty pricey camping trip considering that we had to buy a tent and a few other essentials. Andrew is so great with Liam and Liam loves him
We stayed at the koa. They had some fun things to do there and it was a great location to get around town.

The first night we went and grabbed burgers at a place nearby and then back to camp to swim, shower, and sit by the fire.

We spent a fair amount of time at the pool. It was always full of kids having a great time.

Unfortunately they didn't have a hot tub but they had a kiddie pool. It was so cold though I was surprised when Liam wanted to play in it. It wasn't long before the kids were all cold and we headed back to camp.
These times are the best when you settle in for the night and have good conversation. We played a few getting to know you games and that started some really great conversation.
Our sleeping arrangements were creative and worked pretty well. We bought 2 sets of bunk bed cots for the kids. They all slept really well.
Matt and I on the other hand did not. We should have purchased a new air bed for us. It was terrible and was more than half flat when morning came. If/when we camp again we will buy a new air mattress.

Every time we come to Bear Lake I see people riding these bikes and I was so excited to try them. Matt didn't share in my enthusiasm but was willing to try it. Saturday morning we got up and headed to rent a bike and rode it to breakfast. There is a little Crepe place that several people had suggested. The one thing that we didn't anticipate was waiting for over 2 hours for our food. While we waited we took turn taking the kids for rides and eating the fruit we had bought to tide us over. About lunch time we got our breakfast crepes and headed back to the campground to eat and see what everyone else was doing.

We decided we were going to head to the east side of the lake and find a place to play at the beach. It was all super crowded but she found a small spot for us to set up our canopy, chairs, and snacks. One nice thing about Bear Lake is the water doesn't drop off quickly it is shallow forever. It felt very safe to let the kids play while the adults relaxed a little.

Our whole group
That night we ordered pizza and the boys went to pick it up while the rest of us showered. The bath houses they have are nice but it doesn't compare to showering in your own space.

Sunday morning we broke camp and got ready to head home. The other families rented a few small bikes so while Matt and I finished breaking things down they were able to ride around the campground.

When we got home we took "real" showers and spent the rest of the day unpacking and just vegging. That night when I gave Liam his bottle he could barely keep his eyes open. I guess that could be a sign of a fun and busy weekend with friends

Our 4th of July

Typically part of my family joins us for the 4th but this year it was just us and we weren't sure what our plan was. So we did what we always do...things at our own pace and what sounds good at the time. We made it to the parade just in time for it to start...we still aren't early risers.

My favorite part about the parade and the 4th of July overall is the patriotic aspect. It always makes me so emotional to think about the things people have done and continue to do for our freedoms.
After the parade we headed to the car but ran into some friends and spent a couple hours just visiting.

That afternoon Chris and Krissy joined us for dinner and to hang out. It was so fun to get to meet Tripp since it was the first time in person for all of us.
We enjoyed having them until it was bedtime. We were hoping they would be able to stay longer but totally get when kids need to go to bed.
Amy and Perry's road started putting on a parade last year and now have made it a tradition of sorts. They invited us to join them. The girls all rode and decorated their bikes. We thought Liam might want to ride the lawn mower but when it came down to it he decided to stay and catch candy.

Park City Fun

We went up to watch Rigs play baseball in Heber City while Matt was working. It was a beautiful day and so fun to watch Rigs do something he loves. The kids of coarse loved being with cousins and playing.

Afterwards I decided we should make a trip of it since we had already driven that far. I called Matt and asked if he could come join us and we could do the Apline slide and grab dinner. He said he would head our direction so the kids and I went to a local dairy for some ice cream to kill some time. They rode the tiny merry go round probably 5 times and ate our ice cream.

Then we went to the outlets to look around until Matt got there. All of the kids bought something at bath and body even Liam thought it was cool to have a bag to match the girls.
Then Matt called and said he was waiting for us at the resort so we drove over to meet him. The line was longer than I thought it'd be but every so often when the line moved we got to be in the shade and that was awesome. We all loved riding the lift up and were excited about getting to come down the slide. Last time we came to do the slide we only had 2 kids and they were little enough they had to ride with us so this time was a whole new experience.

Gracie was super nervous and worried she'd go to fast and crash. So she did the opposite and went super slow. Luckily she was behind all of us. I let Liam determine our pace and helped him with the stick. He always wanted to go faster. It was so fun but I always wish it was longer.

We decided to forgo the restaurants in Park City and eat at Taggart's grill in Enterprise. What we didn't know is that everyone else would have the same idea. We ended up waiting for over an hour and then we had to sit at two different tables since they didn't have one big enough for us. It was a little crazy but our food was yummy. The manager even gave us a discount for all the craziness.
I loved the spontaneity for today. It was so fun to just go at our own pace and schedule and try new things. I love introducing the kids to new things and watching them experience it is the best part.
