Lake Powell Day 2

Oh so excited to go on the boat
Part of the early morning crew

This is Nate's awesome air...his face was priceless

It was still early so we had plenty of time to cuddle too

Once again the morning was beautiful we boated early and then headed in for breakfast. Nate fell asleep in the chair but Hallie thought he was just joking with her. She stood there for about 5 minutes waiting for him to jump up and scare her before heading off to do something else. *pet peave moment I think every parent should teach their child to leave people alone when they are sleeping. I remember growing up my dad would nap on the couch and my mom would always tell us how hard he worked and he needed his rest. I hope I can continue to instill that in my kids as well. Hallie was very respectful and minus laughing in anticipation of him scaring her. Maddi even tried to get her to touch his nose and she told her that wasn't nice because he must be tired if he was sleeping*proud mom moment
Silly Grace has started to pull quite the faces when you ask her to smile her is just one of the many....love this little girl full of spunk
Is this not one of the cutest pictures you have ever seen. Nic had put the washcloth on Kinleys head to help keep her cool and she was full of smiles for me. Love this sweet baby girl
Grace chillin in her chair...eating more yogurt
Shortly after lunch the wind picked up and quickly became the worst day when it came to the wind blowing. After some quick thinking we decided to load up in the boats and head away from the sand...it turned out to be a great idea. We took snacks, swam, and cliff jumped most importantly we were protected from the wind and the sand. Hallie even did a little cliff jumping after watch the big kids have so much fun. We tied the boats together listen to music, danced, and sang like we were teenagers while we swam

The girls rode in the tube, they both had their moments of liking it and not liking it but all and all they were good sports seeing as we didn't even go anywhere.
Kinley & Luke were content to chill while we took turns swimming and watching them
Gracie is a little water bug and loved jumping in but then settled in carl's boat on the back bench if you look closely you will notice her back loop is around the pole(we didn't do this on purpose). But it worked well when a wave rocked the boat that she didn't fall. She was content to stand their and watch the girls sing and dance with her cracker.
Hallie was a little unsure about getting in the colder than grandma's pool water
but after daddy eased her in
she became a fish all on her own. She couldn't stop showing me how she could swim so far by herself and put her face in the water.
Then we got in the boat to cuddle and get dry. I love that this little girl still loves to curl up on my lap and do just about anything.

The wind continued to dinner time and we decided we had had enough and were going to the marina for dinner. We had missed afternoon naps because we were out playing. Luckily the marina was about 20 minutes away so the kids got in a little rest before we got to dinner. There was a little wading area for us to cool down in before we went to eat. The food was great and no wind or sand was invited.

So we made it through the windiest day yet. We headed back to camp to clean stuff up and get ready for bed. We gave the girls a bath in the trailer and just after we put the girls to bed the wind died down....go figure.

Lake Powell Day 1

Tuesday Matt worked half day and then we headed for Lake Powell. We stopped and grabbed lunch then headed to meet Kim & Ez so we could caravan. Before we even got to Kimber Grace was asleep and Hallie fell asleep shortly after we left Riverton(where we met Kim & Ez). It made for a pretty quiet ride but Matt and I enjoyed it and caught up on our visiting since he has been gone so much lately.
Once we got to Fillmore the girls woke up for potty breaks and a treat stop at the Maverik. The girls had slushies and Matt got a Coke to keep him awake for the remainder of the drive. At that point we let the girls play on the playground while we waited for Kim & Ez who had stopped at a different gas station. Kimber called and said to go ahead they couldn't get the hatch on their pilot closed that they would catch up(which was true since we couldn't drive as quick with the trailer). We did much better on gas mileage this year getting an average of 10 mpg. So we headed for our next stop Kanab.

We met up with Nic & Ky who had come from Vegas but had blown a tire on the trailer outside of hurricane  so we all got there at the same time. We grabbed some dinner and gas and got back on the road for our last hour of driving. All the kids did pretty well. Once we left Fillmore we turned on the dvd player and we only knew they were there when they need a new dvd...it worked out quite well. We pulled into Lake Powell just in time to fill the trailers with water and to get camp set up by dark. It took us just over 7 hours with stops to get there. We had our pick of the beach since there weren't many people there. Lake Powell was 36 feet lower this year than last. Its one of the things I love about Lake Powell...every year the scenery changes. And Wednesday morning we woke up to this! Oh how I love this place!
Nate decided to sleep on the back of the boat rather than the tent...I remember doing this when I was his age. He said he slept really well.
Then there is Hallie who was asleep on a bed when we went to sleep but when I woke up I found her on the floor. I wondered how long she had been there.
We always take early morning ski trips the water is beautiful and smooth perfect. Usually the kids are up a lot sooner than they usually are at home and then come back for breakfast and early naps.
This was a great time to get everyone sun screened and prep'd for the day

We always packed snacks in the boat in case someone gets hungry which Hallie did and her teeth showed it (notice the chocolate in her teeth from her granola bar)
Then once the water got choppy it was time to head in for some "real" breakfast that one morning consisted of swedish fish...but your only young once right?
Having the trailer was so nice it also allowed for some different food choice including frozen gogurts...Gracie really enjoyed those
Then of coarse there was time spent playing in the sand

And even some time to float and swim in the water

Before everyone was tired and ready for another nap
After naps and lunch we headed to do some cliff jumping...well some of us me not included. Since I have had kids jumping off a cliff has lost its awesomeness.
Then some volleyball/badminton and of coarse more napping....that's what vacation is all about!
The afternoons were hard because the wind would blow and made it pretty miserable since it was so strong in blew sand every where so we made dinner in the trailers and just relaxed to pass the time.
