Hallie's Play

Hallie was excited to be part of the Jr High play again this year. This year they performed The Greek Mythology Olypiaganza. She played 7 different parts in the show that lasted 35 min total. All of her parts were in the last 10 minutes where she spoke most if that time. We went both nights they performed. Liam laughed so hard the first night he was insistent that we go again the next. Hallie had a part where she fought with one of her best friends with a bunch of rubber duckies and it was by far the show stopper. Hallie really loves theater and is looking forward to performing more as she moves to Weber High next year. We really enjoy getting her watch her do something she enjoys

The young women and their leaders came one night and brought Hallie dinner and flowers. They are so great to support her and make her feel loved.
We always love having people come support Hallie. It worked out great that a performance was the same night as piano so as the girls finished piano lessons we headed to her play.

Valentines' Day Dancing....Gracie's 6th Grade Dance/Daddy Daughter Dance

In the fall I was voluntold that I was in charge of the 6th grade dance. I didn't think much of it until we were in Mexico and I realized it was less than a month away. Luckily there were several great moms that had volunteered to be involved. Hallie's 6th grade dance was right after the covid shut down so they weren't allowed to do anything they normally would have done so I had no idea what to plan or expect. It all came together so well. They had some of the dance teachers from the valley come in for weeks before and taught the kids some line dances. I think this made it more fun and made it so there wasn't the awkward slow dance situation. The mom in charge of refreshments did slushies and they were a hit.

Gracie and her group of friends. Gracie has a really easy time making and keeping friends. She has a sweet little group she runs around with.
Gracie showing off her line dancing skills

I'm always happy to get to be part of these things so I get to see first hand as the kids continue to experience some firsts.

Ski Day

We finally got to the ski hill. It was the stake YM & YW ski night. I asked if it was ok if the rest of the kids and I came and they said of coarse. We packed up and headed over. The snow was super slushie but we had a fun night. The stake provided dinner for the kids and I had packed snacks for the rest of the time. We stayed way later than I thought we would because we were having so much fun. Liam is doing great in the harness and as the night went on had better and better control. I had a moment when I could see us just enjoying skiing together rather than continuing to teach kids year after year. Im looking forward to that and more ski days with my ski buddies.

House Project

One afternoon I was scrolling thru social media and a remodeling site popped up with inspiration photos and I had the thought that we should do that to our master. I sent Matt and picture and now the rest is history. From there I decided the bathroom looked a little vanilla. Once the wheels were rolling we evaluated the entire house. Here's the before, during, and after.

The kids were all excited to get in on the action. Matt was out of town and we wanted to get a jump on it so we painted the wall and then planned to put the geometric pattern on after.
The kids all did so great!

When the ideas started coming I knew that we needed a new bed I found this one on the classifieds that had only been used for 6 months and had been in storage. It was just what we were looking for. Liam and I took a trip down to Utah county to pick it up on Friday afternoon. It barely fit in the car.. I had to take the wood legs off and it was just right. We love how it looks now for new bedding.
On thing that became apparent quickly is how much smaller the bed and frame were so then we decided to add a bench at at the end.

Then Matt decided we should have a barn door that matched the wall to tie it all together. So we sold it and Matt built a new one. He does suck a great job on all of the things I dream up in my head.

Then while the kids and I moved their rooms around Matt worked on all the other projects. We decided to get rid of the one big mirror and change it up with 2 smaller ones and add some shelves.

From there I decided the bathroom looked a little vanilla. Once the wheels were rolling we evaluated the entire house. Liam has been difficult to get to bed at night unless Matt and I go to bed earlier so we thought thru where we could move him. Ultimately we decided that moving Liam downstairs into Gracie's old room, moving Gracie upstairs into the play room, and the play room into Liam's current room. I have always wanted a playroom on the main floor, in the fall Liam will go to kindergarten and will get up the same time as Emy, Gracie moving upstairs with Hallie works because in the fall they will get up at the same time as well. The kids were all so helpful with the move. It was a make a big mess before you clean it up kinda day.
Liam loved helping to measure for curtains
We also had to paint the trim and take down all the gold polka dots. I wasn't sure how it would come together but it ended up being super cute

With Gracie's room we decided to try wallpaper and then Matt added wood to the bottom. It looks super suites and fits her well.

So much fun to mix things up. We decided to pull the house off the market and wait a couple months before we put it back on with all new pictures and updates. We'll see how it goes
