Jazz Suite Date Night

Sure Steel has been trying to make some decisions about how best to get out with clients and how their money is best spent. This time they tested the suite boxes at the jazz game they bought an entire suite and did dinner. They had 18 tickets so they invited 9 people and their significant others. It was super fun. They did BBQ for dinner and had some awesome snacks. Lucky for me they had a bathroom in the suite just in case I started not feeling well. I love spending time with just Matt. It seems like lately our dates have been farther apart than what we would like. Im definitely spoiled but I love going to the jazz game in the suite box.

Staying Busy While Daddies Gone & Building the Grill

Life can get somewhat monotonous when Matt is gone so we like to shake things up a little bit. This is one of Hallie friend invites to their birthday party

Hallie and her selfies
Since I haven't been feeling well my sweet neighbor brought dinner a couple nights before and we had left over pie. Sadly Em didn't finish her dinner so she was sad she got no pie. Fortunately after the video she finished her dinner and was able to eat pie
Gracie and I got all our pieces organized before we got started. She was my right hand and a super helper
Emy was the internal inspector making sure Gracie and I were doing a good job. It is also one of her favorite places to sit now

Here it is all done and ready for some summer BBQs and to be built in to Matt and I's next project
Gracie regularly likes to have her hair put in these curlers because she says they always make her feel so cute. On this particular night Emy decided she wanted to have curlers as well. Unfortunately she didn't want to sleep in them. so we took them out shortly before bedtime. But she sure looked cute in them. And while she had them in she would swing her head side to side so the curlers would shift. It was so cute

Although I hate that Matt is gone so much I have come to appreciate the opportunity it gives me to show the girls that girls can do anything if they set their mind to it and anything can be learned on youtube..lol

Gut Issues

Oh man where to begin. Well its been 5 years since I was diagnosed with ulcerlative colitis so it was time to have another colonoscopy. I was surprised that I wasn't nervous I think because I saw having one as taking care of myself and making sure I don't get progressive cancer because I'm being careless with my health. With my diagnosis I have 4x higher chance of colon cancer than the average person. Matt was even shocked at how calm I was. Honestly the clean out was the worst part and I felt so terrible and hungry I just wanted it to be over. When I got in the back Dr Poole asked me about meds and I explained that I controlled my u.c. with diet alone to which he replied that was highly unlikely.  Upon coming out of sedation I found he had written me prescriptions for 3 new meds to take and just try. An antibiotic, a rectal steroid, and an oral steroid. I was a little bend out of shape and slightly worried about what they had found during the test. When he came to talk to me I inquired about the meds and he stated that I should take them all just to fell better. He was very short and avoided most of my questions stating why did it matter as long as I felt better. I was furious and frustrated and decided that day that I needed a new Dr. Thanks to Facebook I was able to get a couple suggestions and find the one I felt was best for me. Dr Porter. I also got my test results back that all my biopsies were clear and no cancer was detected.
After we got home I felt like death. Lots of blood, diarrhea, urgency, and stomach cramping. My sweet neighbor Jill was so nice and brought our family dinner that night while I laid on the couch.
I was praying that I would have some idea as to how I would be able to get feeling better and be able to take care of my family. Then I had the idea come to my head that I should call my chiropractor and go see him. Dr Tanner has been awesome for a long time. I have since been to see him 3 times. He has help close the valves in my gut that get stuck open when its inflamed. As well as help me narrow down what foods are inflaming my body at this point. I really believe he truly cares and wants to help me get better.
I have now also been to see Dr. Porter and was very pleased at what he said. He fully believes that I can control my u.c. with diet and has a good majority of his patients that do. He also has a couple patients with cancer than is now in remission strictly based on diet. We also discussed a possible allergy link  with my u.c. so he suggested seeing an allergist! Hallelujah! Although he did suggest I take a low dose Lialda because it will cut my chance of cancer in half because it is a low dose aspirin that focuses in the gut and creates a barrier to protect the body. Along with gluten free he suggested a low carb diet to help my gut. I have since been doing that and am feeling much better. I will start the meds shortly. It has now been 5 weeks since my flare started so Im pleased that its getting back in check. He also suggested having a colonoscopy every 2 years to stay on top of the cancer risk....not thrilled about that but Ill do it.
I know as we move forward we will have to continue to make adjustments but I feel at peace that we're doing what we need to be doing and that ultimately it will give me the opportunity to feel well and take care of myself and my family.

Grandma Comes to Visit and Playing with Cousins

My parents came to visit so my dad could get in a ski day before the snow all melted. While he was skiing we decided to have a girls day. That entailed going to Treehouse Museum and to visit "ducky" grandma. We met up after lunch at Treehouse. We figured a couple hours would be enough but unfortunately we only got to about half the museum and had to head for Tremonton so we had time to see grandma before it got to late. The kids were sad to leave but had so much fun.
We made a pit stop and had a late lunch on the way to Tremonton....thank heavens for the drive thru. When we got to grandmas she was very surprised since we didn't tell her we were coming. After about 30 minutes in the house the kids were going crazy and making grandma a ball of nerves so we took the kids outside to play. They love the tire swings and this day was no exception.

While they were swinging, running, and chasing each other Nic and had had a good visit to catch up on stuff...I love my visits with this girl she is so down to earth and although I'm sure at times she thinks Im crazy she loves me anyways
Em was the perfect size to swing in the tire she could sit down in the swing and you could hardly see her
We had to get a good but rare picture of all of us. We had a good visit but were ready to go home and call it a night.
Saturday afternoon we headed to Nic's for dinner and for us girls to attend the women's session of general conference. Dinner was so good Kyle smoked some chickens. I was super nervous about going since I have been feeling so crappy with my UC. But I said a little prayer, put on my dress, and went to the conference. I was thrilled that I did fine and had no issues so I was able to enjoy the session.
Im grateful for time spent with family making memories and time slightly slowing down in this crazy fast paced world. Im also grateful for simple answered prayers so I got to enjoy my time with family

Emy The Professional Bread Maker

Em has become more and more interactive wanting to try and do all the things the girls are doing. Usually once a week I bake with Gracie but this time I started making bread and Em quickly drug a chair over and wanted to help. I let her put all the ingredients in and then came her favorite part...turning on the mixer.
I love the dance that starts every time the mixer turns on

She started clean and ended covered in flour
Once we got her cleaned up her and Hallie did some cuddling and watched a show while the bread was raising.
Although I can't eat the bread I want the girls to have ever opportunity to try and do things even if I can't. I love these girls and their can do attitude. The girls said the bread was delicious and I'm sure the next time the mixer comes out Em wont be far behind

New Dentist & Emy's First Time

We decided to do some shopping around and switch dentist. Since we don't currently have dental insurance we want to get the best bang for our buck for sure. We decided to try Kids Town Dental and we are so happy we did. The dentist and his assistance are awesome. It was Em's first time to the dentist and she did so great. She watched Hallie and Gracie both get their teeth cleaned and have a ride in the chair so she was ready when it was her turn. She actually let the dentist see her teeth with some coaxing which is better than any of the other girls have done their first time. Then she let me put her flouride on since they gave her a mickey tooth brush that she loved.

I think we are really going to like our new dentist and the kids already are looking forward to going again in the fall

Springtime Water Fun

With the weather warming up the snow is melting. Parts of our back yard look more like a swimming pool but the kids are loving splashing and making mud pies every chance they get. Luckily we haven't had any other problems with water in the basement. We also got a few bids to fix the problem once it warms up.

We have started doubling our laundry because the kids can't seem to stay clean so one warm day when they were filthy I stripped Em's soaking dirty clothes off and let her run wild in her diaper and boots for a little bit. Matt got a good laugh out of this because he said years ago I never would have let her do that and look so uncared for...lol. She had a ball and no more clothes got dirty...thats a double win in my book.

Dinorella & The Puppet Project

Hallie was so excited to announce their grade was putting on little puppet shows with plays. Although I was really excited for her to have the experience I was a little less excited when I found out we had to build the puppet but it turned out just how she wanted it. She is thrilled with it which is all that matters.

She did a great job and was super excited to see us in the audience

Daddy's Day Off=Family Day Out

Matt had to travel over the weekend so he was able to take a couple days off during the week to make up the time so we decided to take the kids to do some fun stuff as a family before he left. We pulled Hallie out of school and went to play for the day. We asked them where they wanted to go and they said Treehouse Museum so that's where we started. They have changed things up quite a bit since we were there last time and there were a lot of new things to play with

After a couple hours of playing we grabbed some lunch and then we hit up the arcade which also didn't disappoint.
While the kids were playing their little hearts out this guy and I got a few minutes to visit and just enjoy being together. He is my everything. He is the best thing that every happened to me and the reason life is so wonderful. I love every minute I get with him. He works so hard for us to live the life we have and I love him for it.
After the arcade everyone was tired and ready for a rest so we headed for home and hung out on the couch...lol I love days with this family of ours. It wasn't anything fancy but we just loved being together
