Halloween-One of the Best Ones Yet!

Halloween weekend was one to remember! Erin and the kids came down to spend the night and help with the house. They were a ton of help and we were able to move all the lumber from the garage to the basement and work on various other projects. The kids more than earned their trick or treating. We didn't even have time to eat dinner before we hit the streets to trick or treat.

The kids all looked so cute

This was Liam's first time trick or treating door to door. We went to Huntsville and went door to door. This is the first year we did this. With Covid Sure Steel cancelled their party and the nursing home didn't do trick or treating so we came up with a new plan. It was a huge hit!

After a couple hours the kids buckets were full and they were ready to go home for some "real" food. It was so fun to see the kids run door to door like I did when I was a kid. I think it is something we will do again. It was so fun for all of us.

6462 E Summit Cove-Building The Slide

The deck slide has been something we have planned on for a long time. Although when it came down to it we weren't really sure how to make it all come together. The slides that went the entire distance were over a thousand dollars so we started a plan to build the slide to fit the space so we ordered a 7 ft slide and a 5 ft slide and made it into one slide. The girls and I put it all together so the railing guys could come and measure. Then the inspector came and said not to put it up until after final inspection because they had a whole new set of rules. So for now it is sitting below the deck waiting until after final inspection.

6462 E Summit Cove-Wall Tile and Interior Paint Begins

Yay for wall tile. Since the kids are older I took them with me to let them pick things they liked and it is looking good coming together. This is Emy's bathroom

Gracie's bathroom
Liam's bathroom
The painters have started in the theater. Its fun to see the contrast of the dark and the light in the theater and I think it's going to look great with the specialty carpet. A little out of my comfort zone but so far so good.

Foodies

Our sweet neighbor brought over some fresh raspberry ice cream. Once Liam got ahold of the container he was not about to share or give it back. He knows what is good.

The kids have been funny lately if you ask where they want to eat because they will say Zupas. They each have what they like to order.
Hallie-Chicken Tortilla & Grilled Cheese
Gracie- Cauliflower Soup & Grilled Cheese
Emery & Liam- Tomato Basil with noodles & Grilled Cheese

Its fun to take them out now that they are getting older and will actually eat. They're so cute

6462 E Summit Cove-Exterior Painting Begins

One afternoon Matt and I were walking around the house and noticed that the west side of the house was painted! We assume it had happened the previous day but not completely sure. I love when  something gets done before you have to ask a million times. I think we are really going to like the color. Yay for things getting done and the gray is way better than the ugly yellow tan of the primer.

6462 E Summit Cove-Finish Work Continues-1st Day of Single Digits

Its cold...inside and outside of the house. Once again it has come in handy to have the condo so close so the kids can sleep while Matt and I work at the house. We are making progress with the finish work and some of the areas are really transforming. This is the pantry

Coat Closet
Lockers
Here is my better half holding me and this house together...getting stuff done.
Flooring for the sports court
I feel like the workspace in the house changes depending on the weather and where the work needs to be done.

Sugar Cookie Fun Amongst All The Work

With Halloween coming sugar cookies we in the plans. Growing up I remember my mom making sugar cookies for most holidays. My dad made the other kinds of cookies. The kids love sugar cookies although they are a lot of work. I have found a sour cream cookies recipe that is gluten free that does a good job. The kids each like to have their own dough and make the shapes they want. I hope the kids know how much I enjoy my time with them doing fun things.

6462 Summit Cove-Doing Whatever Needs Done

One thing I have learned in building is you never know what will need to be done in a day. With the weather getting colder we had requested for Rocky Mountain to come connect the power to the house. They came out and said that the hole wasn't deep enough and after 2 weeks of waiting. I wish they would have told us what they needed or for what we're paying they would have dug the hole. But with Matt out of town and us needing power. I took Liam up in the car and turned him on a show while I dug the remainder of the hole in the snowstorm.

I have never hung drywall or plywood but with Matt busy in different parts of the house I took the project of securing this insulation with plywood and drywall. Although it isn't perfect I think I did pretty good since I had never tried anything like this before.

6462 Summit Cove- Oct 21-27-Tile, Finish Work, Doors, and Flooring

6462 Summit Cove-Tile Begins

Finally were getting into the final finishes! To this point we have spent hundreds of thousands on things that are hidden behind drywall or that you will never see so it is fun to finally get to a point to see the things that will be here when we move in. We did tile a little different this time around. One of the owners from R&R is a interior designer and she sat down and helped me lay everything out. I wasn't sure about some things and how they would come together so I'm super excited as it comes to life.

Here are the grout colors if I ever need to refer back

6462 Summit Cove-Deck Stairs

These stairs were a pain in the butt! We originally thought the framers were supposed to build them but when Matt called to verify they said they weren't included in the bid. We had them give us a bid as to what they would charge us to put them in and decided to have them do it. We were on a time crunch and they needed to be done over the weekend so they would be ready for railing the following Monday. Well Friday the framer didn't show up so Saturday morning Matt called to see where he was only to find out he had decided he wanted more money. Annoyed by the fact that he wanted more money and concerned he once again wouldn't show Matt decided to take them on himself.

Although it was a bit of a struggle getting them measure and in place we got it done. Thank heavens Matt has experience with stairs because this was a a little harder than a typical set of straight stairs.

The kids and I enjoyed some breaks in the shade while Matt did the things he didn't need help with. I say this with a lot about the projects we have taken on with this house but I don't know that we would want to do this again..lol

Halloween Prep

As usual I let the girl choose who they wanted to be for Halloween. They went back and forth for a couple weeks and then I told them it was time to decided so we could get them here in time. I had a hard time deciding what Liam should be....like seriously stressing over it. One day while in Sam's club I decided to see what costumes they had left in his size. I approached the display that had a handful of choices but the only one in his size was the minion costume. It may sound silly but to me it was an answer to prayers. I have over thought things most of my life and Liam's diagnosis only made it that much worse. Although to some it may seem coincidental. I felt like it was God letting me know that he was aware of me and that he knew of my struggle and concern for our little boy.

And he was the cutest gosh dang minion I have ever seen.
Hallie chose a peacock
Gracie Queen Anna
And Emy a witch
Lucky for us they were all happy with their costumes and didn't try to change their minds after we had ordered them.
