May Happenings

The skies are so beautiful and I love each of the seasons.

Getting the kids teeth checked out at the dentist
This kids loves to stay up late and basically refuses to go to bed when his sisters do. We put him in bed and then even will go to bed so he knows its time for bed only to have him come in a dozen times to ask questions. Occasionally he falls asleep on the couch a little earlier
It was Paityn's birthday and Hallie bought Paityn a friendship necklace. They were also both surprised when we let them have a one time sleep over to celebrate her birthday
The short lived and quick moving stomach bug followed by a good nap usually makes this little guy good as new.
The views here never get old
Pouring the concrete pad for the generator....so ready to get this is. We ordered the generator last fall, received it in Feb, and are now ready. The power goes out frequently here so a back up will be nice.
Enjoying our mornings in the sun and on the porch swing
Oh how I love the flower planters. They make me so happy. This is the perfect spot to watch and listen to the kids play
We broke the power wheels out of the gym for Liam to cruise around in while we did some yard work
Gracie's ready for trade day
Reading in the sun
The view from our walk tonight. I might consider building on this lot someday...maybe
Emma and her mom were so sweet and brought a ice cream sundae kit along with a few gifts for the kids.
When we did the landscape plan I had dreams about summers filled with water slides and snow cones. This was that dream coming true
Liam has becoming increasingly interested in how everything works. He is a little sponge absorbing all the information her can. Working on dads truck is no exception to that. He was thrilled to hand dad tools to help.

Love this happy helpful friend and all the joy he brings to our home

Celebrating Nate and Kennady

Instead of having a bridal shower to celebrate Nate and Kenn getting married we had a family weekend. It was so fun to have everyone here to celebrate them.

The kids as always love being together
Kim came up with the great idea to do themed gifts that along with being useful in their daily lives it also would help Kennady get to know us better as a family.

It was a fun weekend getting to know Kennady better and letting her get to know us. Im grateful for my family and the sacrifices they make to come to Huntsville so we can get together and make memories together. Im also grateful for Matt for being my partner in everything and making our dreams come true in building this house to build memories in.

Axe Date Night for the Win

Sometimes you just need to get out and have some fun! Although it's a lot of work to get out it usually is worth it. Matt and I are so grateful for these friends that have become our tribe. It was so fun to get out and have some friendly competition. I hope to make this a regular thing.

I love this man! He is my rock and my everything. He supports me in all my ideas crazy and otherwise

Last Day of School

I feel like time is a thief. The days are long but the years are short as they say. We have made it through another year of school. Things are slowly returning to normal after COVID. The girls have all grown not just physically but in all ways imaginable.

The after school party at the park full of friends, water, pizza, and popsicles.

Emy's Show and Teach

Every year the 1st graders are given the assignment to show and teach their peers something they love. Emy randomly chose balloon animals but it became a really fun thing. As soon as she decided I ordered a kit with an instructional video and we got to work figuring it out. We decided to do swords and it ended up being so fun. After Emy demonstrated and we helped everyone do their own we headed to the gym to do some sword fighting.

Hallie's 7th Grade Awards Ceremony

It's so fun to see the kids that you pour your life into succeed at things. I think this is just one of the ways we get to see it. Hallie's 7th grade year has been super hard and for her to still be recognize for great grades speak volumes of the person she is becoming. We love you and are so proud of you Hallie!

The "Island" Project

Since we bought the lot that our house sits on this island has been an eye sore. I guess I decided I was tired of looking at it and started by cleaning it out and turned into a full blown makeover. It started by ripping out the tattered garden fabric, trimming trees, and pulling out all the rocks to clean out all the years of leaves that have been decomposing.

We also leveled the stone and then replaced all the rocks.

Along the way we found that there was a sprinkler system that had never been used since it was put in with the original development 20 years ago. At this point in the project the HOA saw what we were doing and offered to pay for anything that we needed to finish the project into a beautiful space that adds to the community. Matt was so patient and helpful. He did all the tinkering and fixed the broken sprinkler heads for me...and Liam was there every step of the way.
We kept the edging and just straightened it out and made it the shape we wanted.
Then we planted the front plants with various colors and textures
Then with new fabric down it was time for some bushes to fill the space.
Last but not least the mulch that mad everything pop.
We added some solar lights and called it a day. It looks so awesome and now matches the beautiful homes surrounding it. It was a fun project...I like little projects that make a big impact.
