Sterling Cabin Trip

On Wednesday we woke up to SO much snow! The roads were terrible and it was coming down in giant snowflakes. Despite the terrible weather we got on the road. The roads to Kaysville were the worst I had ever driven.  We got to Nic's and dropped off a couple of the coolers since we didn't have space for all of it. We left when it was time for Liam's first nap. It worked great and he and Emy slept for a hour or so of the drive. We took Maddi with us as well so she didn't have to drive alone. After they were awake we stopped for lunch and shortly after that arrived at the cabin. We were grateful that the roads were good for us the rest of the way.
We were the first ones to the cabin and set to get settled in. Certain parts of the house were dirty specifically the kitchen so we started cleaning that while we waited for everyone else. Once nic and Ky got there we had the rest of the food to start dinner. While Nic and I cleaned the kitchen Maddi started dinner. The kids explored the house. I really think this is the best place we have ever stayed and was the best fit for our family.
That first night we had soup and Liam really enjoyed his taco soup. He definitely needed a bath after this
The next morning was Thanksgiving. Everyone was great to help get the food started. Once everything was going. IMaddi and I ran to Walmart for ice cream and some medicine for Liam. While we were gone Mom, Nic, and Kim took all the kids on a walk down to the nearby lake. It looks like they had a bunch of fun

After we had Thanksgiving dinner Dad and Kyle went out to search for the perfect Christmas tree. They found one...one so big they had to trim it before they could get it in the door.

Each night my mom was in charge of the Come Follow Me. She did a great job reading stories and tying it into something Christ centered.
One thing we missed at the cabin was a tv in the main area so we decided to bring the tv up from the downstairs. It worked so well and we were really happy we did that.

Friday morning we got up and going and about 9 am left on our side by side adventure. It was fun to have all of us bundled up and headed out on this adventure

Once we found a good spot we all did some sledding
On the second ride there were several of the kids that totally clocked out I had stayed behind to let Liam nap. A big storm came thru and got them pretty good so they headed back.

All of the siblings...Im the short one

While Liam napped our 2 older girls played in the hot tub. They were so excited. They had been asking about getting it it since we arrived but there were so many kids it was fun for them to just do it the 2 of them
This fire was also a big hit. Although we opened the doors several times we still burned the fire.

Saturday morning we had breakfast casserole and cinnamon roll casserole for Christmas breakfast
Then we opened Christmas gifts

That night we did the gag gift exchange and Nate got the hairy belly fanny pack....it was hilarious and I always laugh so hard when we do this exchange

That afternoon grandma told all the kids they could get in the hot tuba nd she could watch them. They were crazy. They would get in the hot tub then lay in the snow or have a snow ball fight then crawl back in the hot tub.

That evening we also celebrated grandma nd Liam's birthdays. He opened gifts and had cake or in grandmas case cheesecake

Nate and Maddi were trying to do couples yoga it looked terrible but we laughed so hard

He was enthralled with the candle

It was such a fun weekend. I think we will go to this cabin again for sure. Hopefully next year. We made so many memories that will last a lifetime.
