Day 5-Crafting on the Beach & The Dole Plantation

Our favorite days ended up being the days we spent at the local beach doing fun things. This day was no exception. We started out at North Shore and made leis. It was so fun. The instructor was a local that brings kits she put together and there on a blanket next to the ocean we sat and made leis. We were with a family from Idaho also there for vacation. Liam wasn't really into it so Matt got the sand toys from the car and they played in the shade next to us. While we were there the tide was crazy. It's the time of year they host several surfing competitions and that was fun to watch.

We also spent some time seashell hunting

The girls and I finished our leis and took the boys kits to complete in the car

Then we headed to the Dole Plantation. Of coarse while we waited in line for the train we got dole whips and a float.

I had never seen a pineapple growing in real life. The rows of tiny pineapples were so cool.

Then off on the train ride we went around the plantation

There were fields and fields full of pineapples at various stages of growth

Then back to North Shore for more craft classes. This time we made baskets out of coconut palm leaves. This go around we were the only ones in the class and that was a good thing. This is the hardest class we took but the teacher was so patient with us and helped us one at a time to complete them. Once we got home we hung them all together on the wall in the laundry room. Again such a cool atmosphere. Liam used his as a sand shovel

After the class we headed back the resort and our dinner Luau. I wished we had gone to a luau the last time we were in Hawaii so we made sure it was part of our plan this time around.

Gracie's face says it all. They were less than impressed with the entertainment. I had never been so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a rocky start. A lady came out singing and she was terrible. Luckily towards the end it got better. The fire dancers were a favorite.
