Liam's Cancer Fight Day 7

Day 7 (Thursday Dec 12th):
After another uneventful night (thank goodness) we woke up and got ready for the day. Being worried about the bladder being full with all of the fluids they decided to scan his bladder to see how much fluid he had. The scan showed about 225ml so they decided to cath him before it got to a level that caused him pain again. They ended up getting about 135ml out which was pretty good. As annoying as it was for Liam to be cathed it probably felt better than the pressure on his full bladder. After they finished, one of our friends from High School (Ian Hess) stopped by since he worked in the ICU. It was good to catch up with him and hear how he was doing. After he left, Natalie headed home so she could shower and get fresh clothes and spend some time with the girls. Liam and I hung out most the day and played with toys, went for walks in the hall, and just took it easy. He even got in a few naps without being bothered. We had a few visits from Child Life, a therapy dog, and a psychiatrist, but an otherwise uneventful day.

That evening, our Elder's Quorum President (Mike Clark) stopped by and brought some Zupa's for dinner. It was a welcomed break from the hospital food. I'm not saying the hospital food was bad, but it was nice to get something different. We talked about Liam's situation for a little bit and got to know each other better. He's an executive with Intermountain Healthcare and understands a lot of what we were dealing with. While we were chatting, one of our doctors came in and said, "Hey, I wanted to let you know that we have some good news. We got the results back on the bone marrow biopsies and everything is clear. The cancer has not spread to his bone marrow. This means that he will only need just two rounds of chemo!". I asked, "two more, or two including the one he's currently on?". "Two total!". I just looked at Mike and got the biggest smile on my face. What a relief!! Another blessing. Another answer to our prayers!
Liam: 2
Cancer: 0
After getting excited for a few seconds, I hurried and called Natalie to share the good news with her. She was on her way back to the hospital after spending the day at home. She cried most of the way there as she shared the incredible news with both of our families. Mike left shortly after Natalie got to the hospital and we ate our Zupas. We said another prayer thanking our Heavenly Father for this incredible blessing. Could it really be? Could we really be so lucky?
We got Liam to bed and then I told Nat I needed to get out so I headed to Maverik to get some drinks and take a Redbox movie back; the movie we rented on Friday to watch Friday night before all of this went down. We finally watched it last night and Natalie was going to take it back while she was out and about but got distracted with all of the good news. I honestly didn't care that we had spent $13 on a redbox movie. We just found out that Liam's cancer hadn't spread into his bone marrow. We were on cloud nine!!!
I got back to the room and Natalie was just getting ready for bed. I stayed up for a little bit and made sure Liam was settled. Tonight was his last night of chemo and they mentioned that we might be able to go home this weekend.
We are going to win this fight. I just know it.
