Conference Weekend...Joy's Last Conference

And just like that conference weekend has come and gone once again. I felt a little cheated having had to work on Saturday so I missed 2 of the sessions(thank heavens for DVR). Matt and the girls kept busy on Saturday with soccer and yard work. I got home just in time for Matt to change and head to the priesthood session while the girls and I stayed home and had a very low key evening watching movies. Sunday we had a nice quiet day at home. We all stayed in our pjs and no one got their hair done. We decided to have cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We usually have conference cakes but the only part everyone really likes is the belly button thats full of brown sugar so we decided to do cinnamon rolls that we stuffed with eveyones favorite. Im not sure that will be a new tradition either but we will keep trying until we find one we really like. But no one complains with warm cinnamon rolls with frosting and hot chocolate.
The girls were great(as usual) to just sit and color or play with their toys quietly. The girls both worked on pictures for Aunt Maddie to send her in the mail for her birthday. Hallie even asked a couple questions about the talks I was impressed that she was listening.

Gracie is getting such an imagination and now is able to vocalize it. It has been so fun to just sit and watch her play lately. I was lucky to capture a little of it before she noticed me.

There was one thing that was a little different about his conference. It is Joy's last conference before she retires for the choir after almost 21 years. Matt was about 8yrs old when she started singing with them...that is so crazy to me. We will miss watching for her on the tv but hope it means we will see her more in person.
Sunday after conference we tidied up and decided to get dinner going. Once we got it started we got a call from Matt's mom and dad. They asked if they could stop by to visit and we excitedly said yes. We invited them to have dinner with us so we could keep them longer. The girls ate their dinner, asked to be excused, and played in the front room while the adults talked. It was such a fun evening with great conversation and a great end to our busy conference weekend.
