There were times that I honestly felt like this day would never come but alas it did and we couldn't be happier. The word proud doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about Matt and all his hard work he has put into getting this degree. Friday May 1st was the official day of graduation. Matt's parents, Brit, as well as the girls and I were able to be there and be part of this big deal in his and our lives. Matt received an email today letting him know that his graduation requirements had been met and that he should receive his diploma in the next couple weeks. Not sure what he will do with all of his time now but I think building the house will keep him busy at least for this summer.
The girls were so excited when they saw Matt walk out and then it was pretty boring until Matt was presented with his diploma so to pass the time Hallie and I took some selfies
Then they called his name and we all cheered really loud
Getting presented with his hood
After that they kept it short and sweet and luckily we were done shortly after
After Matt's name was read his mom and dad had to leave in order to get to Chris's graduation as well luckily Matt was able to get some pictures with them before graduation started.
Then it was time for some yummy lunch. They provided each graduate with 3 tickets for lunch which was perfect for our little family. They served an apple walnut salad/beans/bbq chicken/brisket/cinnamon roll. It was all really good and it was a fun little thing to do as a family.
The girls each wanted a turn to wear Matt's "special" hat they looked so cute!! Some day not so far away they will be wearing special hats of their own
I love these pictures they are totally us...our little family on daddy's graduation day
After we filled our bellies we made a pit stop at home before we headed to Salt Lake to pick up Matt's graduation gift. He has wanted a truck for a long time and we decided with graduation as well as building the house that it was time. We have been looking for about a month and couldn't really find anything that fit the want list but still was within the budget so we just kept on looking. I had seen this one online and sent Matt the link knowing it was pretty much everything he wanted and was within the budget. He went to look at it the following day and just as suspected he loved it! It is a 2009 GMC Sierra with just over 70,000 miles, it is in excellent condition and even has some extra features on it that weren't on the list. I think it will be a great truck for us for many years to come.
After we got the truck all signed for our family met up with Kerry, Joy, Nick, Brit, Chris, and Krissy to have a celebration dinner for graduation. We ate at R&R Bbq in Salt Lake. It was really good. The weather was great for us to sit outside and eat while visiting. After that the girls and I headed home to call it a night but Matt continued to celebrate and went to the RSL soccer game with a couple guys from work. I think he had a great time living up his graduation day and why not he has definitely earned it.
Graduation day was an exhausting and amazing day spent with many of our family members celebrating all the work Matt has put into his education. I am so proud of him and all of his work. Now on to other things and more goals and dreams.
